WKF President visits United States Olympic Committee

WKF President Antonio Espinós visited the United States Olympic Committee on Friday in order to strengthen relations and explore different cooperation opportunities with the Olympic institution of the North American country.

WKF President Antonio Espinós visited the United States Olympic Committee on Friday in order to strengthen relations and explore different cooperation opportunities with the Olympic institution of the North American country.

President Espinós was welcomed at USOC headquarters in Colorado Springs by United States Olympic Committee Chief Executive Officer Scott Blackmun and USOC Director of International Strategies and Development Dragomir Cioroslan. Also in attendance were United States National Karate Federation president John DiPasquale and USNKF CEO Phil Hampel.

During his presentation, WKF President underlined the importance of the historic moment of Karate following the inclusion of the sport in the programme of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Mr. Espinós expressed Karate’s intention to continue being an active member of the Olympic movement in years to come, and reiterated the hopes of millions of Karate fans around to world to see the sport being incorporated in the 2024 Olympic Games and beyond.

The development and progress of Karate were also at top of the agenda of the meeting. The Karate delegation and USOC representatives discussed the sport’s growth on the region and around the world, as Mr. Espinós announced the WKF’s plans to further increase the popularity of the ancient discipline.
