The final day of the Olympic Karate competition is underway

The final day of the Olympic Karate competition is underway at the Nippon Budokan martial arts venue, with athletes competing in Women’s Kumite +61kg and Men’s Kumite +75kg divisions.

After two fantastic days of exceptional sporting performances, it will be a bittersweet moment tonight when the last karatekas are awarded their medals.

The Elimination Round for the Women’s +61kg has just begun, with Japan’s Ayumi Uekusa squaring off against Italy’s Silvia Semeraro in the opening bout.
