The 43rd European Junior & Cadet and 8th U21 Championships is closed.

During 3 days (5-7 February 2016), the young karate elite from 48 European nations has taken place in Limassol (Cyprus). 970 young and ambitious competitors shown challenging forms (kata) and attractive fights (kumite). The young karatekas from 14 to 21 years demonstrated a lot of spirit, engagement, passion, and fair play during these days.

With 35 categories divide in 3 ages (Cadet, Juniors and U21) and 1119 matches, European championship is one of the most attractive competition in the world, with world championship and Karate1 Premier league tournaments.

First day was dominate by Turkey delegation with 7 Gold medals. They demonstrated that Turkey can be a great nation in Kata form and Kumite fights. The second was more versatile and Turkey kept the first place in nation (13 medals). France took the second place with 3 Gold medals and 9 medals in total. Spain won all Gold medals in Kata Team.

For the last day, Turkey has been continued to dominate the competition and finished first nation.

Concerning the classification of nations, the major countries of the European Karate were present. Turkey is the first European nation to counter with 10 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 7 bronze medals for a total of 20 medals. France ranks second (5/3/4), followed by Spain (4/4/4). Cyprus, the host country, didn’t win medal.

Throw the Closing Ceremony, Mr Jiri Bocek, Vice-president of European Karate Federation, and Mr. Andreas Archimides, President of Cyprus Karate Federation, transmitted the flag to the representant of Bulgaria Karate Federation, for the purpose of organization of the 44th EKF Junior & Cadet & U21 Championships in 2017. The host city is XXX (Bulgaria).
